Mike Cowherd is the Manager for Deal Sourcing and Off-Market Acquisitions for White Oak Healthcare MOB REIT, with primary responsibilities for sourcing, underwriting, and closing off-market medical office investments. He joined White Oak in November 2020, adding to his over 13 year career in healthcare commercial real estate.
Prior to joining White Oak Healthcare MOB REIT, Mr. Cowherd served as Manager, Leasing and Asset Management for Healthcare Trust of America (NYSE: HTA), managing their Colorado medical office building assets, including approximately $266M of class A and B properties (607k RSF). As Development Manager at Lendlease (ASX: LLC), he contracted new hospital clients for investment and development opportunities with a focus on acquisitions, dispositions, market financial analysis, development, and construction management. During his time as a Lease Portfolio Manager at Texas Health Resources, the largest hospital system in Dallas-Fort Worth, he oversaw and negotiated all off-campus leasing activity, tenant improvement build-out, and day-to-day real estate operations for the system. Mr. Cowherd has also worked in various roles in Tenant Representation and Business Development at Caddis Partners as well as CRESA Partners
Mike holds a Master’s degree in both Real Estate & Finance from Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business. Mike was a member of the Cox MBA Real Estate Club while at SMU; he also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, where he played on the lacrosse team throughout his undergraduate years. He is also a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
