Karla Peterson is a Managing Director of Acquisitions and Asset Management for White Oak Healthcare MOB REIT and is responsible for sourcing, underwriting and closing institutional quality medical office buildings as well as working with the asset management team to actively manage the White Oak MOB portfolio.
Karla started her career over 20 years ago commercial real estate development and moved into institutional commercial real estate equity asset management with MetLife touching on all asset classes including office, medical office, industrial, multi-family retail and hotels handling $100+ million portfolios across the U.S. She was responsible for several task forces and implementation of state-of-the-art platforms for the asset management team. Later, as a commercial real estate loan producer with MetLife, she was responsible for originating and closing loans from $20 million to over $100 million. Most recently, she was Executive Vice President producing bridge and permanent loans for an on-balance sheet specialty lender for all commercial real estate property types include medical office buildings. She has closed over $2 billion in loans during her career. In addition to her solid tenure with major institutions, such as MetLife, New York Life and Colony|Northstar, she worked as an advisor / consultant on behalf of her clients (including Dr. David Lynn) underwriting, acquiring and sourcing debt for medical office buildings, senior living, student housing, retail and hotels.
Karla holds an MBA degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, also from Southern Methodist University. She is an active member and a past Director of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Dallas and the CREW Network. In addition, she is a guest lecturer from time to time at SMU, University of Texas (Dallas) and North Texas University.
